Welcome to St Peters Western Swim Club

Welcome to St Peters Western based at St Peters Lutheran College in the western suburb of Indooroopilly in Brisbane, Australia. We are home to the best swimmers in the world (well, some of us are).

Often we swim PBs, sometimes we win and occasionally we break records. And that's because we love swimming and we try hard at every competition. Some of us make it to the Olympics, and whilst the rest of us are waiting for that to happen we work hard in the pool every day under the guidance of our fantastic coaches.

Day 2 at the 14th FINA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Monday, 25 July 2011 20:09

Day 2 for SPW at the world champs involved two of our swimmers Stephanie Rice and Kenrick Monk. In the morning heats Kenrick was able to make the semi finals for the 200 free, alongside training partner Tae Hwan Park.

In the night session Steph meet tough opposition in the final of the 200IM where she was not able to to improve her semi time and finished in 4th place behind Alicia Coutts who was just pipped at the post to finish with a silver medal. Kenrick was close to his PB , but it was not enough to get into the final 8  - Park was 4th fastest for the final. Well done Steph and Kenrick!!

Day 3 today will see Bronte Barratt and Ryan Napoleon competing in the 200 and 800 free respectively - Good Luck!!

Steph Rice fastest qualifier for 200 IM Final

Sunday, 24 July 2011 22:25

First day results were a mixed bag for SPW swimmers with Ryan Napoleon and Bronte Barratt having an off day and missing the finals of the 400 Free. Yolane Kukla helped the 4x100 Free relay team make the finals but unfortunately the girls finished 5th with Bronte being in the final team.

Stephanie Rice was 8th fastest in the morning heats of the 200 IM and in the semis last night qualified fastest and will battle with fellow Aussie Alicia Coutts and World Champ Ariana Kukors of the USA.

In the heats this morning Day 2, Kenrick Monk will be trying hard to make the semis for the 200 Free and will be along side training partner Tae Hwan Park.  Congratulations to Park on his Gold in the 400 Free on the first night, a great swim from Lane 1 to beat his Chinese rival Yang Sun by over 1 second.

Good Luck tonight Stephanie in the final of the 200IM and hopefully Kenrick and Tae Hwan will make the semis for the 200 Free.
