St Peters Western Swim Club is based at St Peters Lutheran College at Indooroopilly, in Brisbane’s western suburbs, and Mr Stephen Rudolph, Head of College, is the club's Patron. The club is not exclusively for students of the College, but is also for swimmers from the wider community who can be part of this exciting club.

We are fortunate to have several athletes train at St Peters Western who compete at major international meets including the Olympic Games. They are a great inspiration for others, particularly our younger up and coming swimmers. St Peters Western prides itself on its work ethic of hard training and as a result, SPW has appeared consistently in the list of top 10 clubs in Australia at national open and age championships in recent years.

We are also fortunate to have a terrific line up of coaches, led by Head Coach Michael Bohl, OAM. The 2008 Australian Coach of the Year was also a member of the Australian coaching team for the 2008 Beijing Olympics and has seen his other swimmers, including Nicholas Sprenger and Glen Housman, win medals at the Olympics. Michael was also a swimmer who represented Australia at the Commonwealth Games in Brisbane in 1982. Bohly has been named the 2010 Age Group Coach of the Year and has been ranked #2 on the list of GO CLUB Top 10 coaches for 2009.

Michael Palfery is SPW’s Assistant Coach and is an accomplished swimmer who represented Australia at the Sydney 2000 Olympics. His competitive enthusiasm for swimming is now seeing him turn into a successful coach with the achievements of several up and coming age swimmers including 14-year-old Yolane Kukla who joins the Australian team to compete at the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

St Peters Western Swim Club was rated as the Number One Club in Australia for the 2007-2008 season. The Go Club Award was presented to Head Coach Michael Bohl at the annual Australian Swimming Coaches and Teachers Association (ASCTA) Convention. In 2010, SPW has been awarded Silver status.

GO Club Ranking

SPW has been awarded Silver status in the 2010 Australian Unity GO Club PB rankings by Swimming Australia. This status is graded across 5 key areas (memberships, administration, activities, coaching/officiating and marketing/promotion). The program gives our club the opportunity to bench mark against clubs from our state and across the country, as well as monitoring changes to our own club’s performance from year to year. This is a commendable achievement and we hope to improve our status in 2011, by continually improving our club across these 5 key areas.
